

Ministry Opportunities
At Epiphany there are many ways that members of the congregation can participate in active Christian ministry. If you or any members of your family are interested in any of these ministries, there is a list of contacts posted in the Narthex, or you can contact the church office at 707 448-2275 or e-mail the office at: Steve@ephiphanylight.com for further information.
Acolytes - Acolytes are children, ages 9 and up, who help during worship services by lighting candles, carrying the cross and torches in processions, and various tasks involving assistance to the Rector during the Eucharist.

Altar Guild - The members of the Altar Guild prepare the altar for all services, care for the church vestments, linens, silver, and altar appointments and decorate the church for festive occasions.

Adult Forum - Sunday Mornings at 10:00 a.m. and Bible Study Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. in the Rectors office.
Bakers Guild- for Eucharist Bread. All are encouraged to make bread for the Sunday Eucharist. Recipes are available in the Parish Hall. Sign up sheets are next to the kitchen door. Contact DEACON COOKIE for more information.
Building Maintenance Volunteers - Do you know how to fix a leak, set a sink, do carpentry work, replace a doorknob, or have other DYI skills? If so, you can provide a much needed service for the church. We keep a list of skilled people we can call on to perform minor repairs as they are needed.
Children's Ministries - Children are invited to read the lessons and prayers of the people at the 9:15 a.m. service each Sunday. Our goal is to help children and youth understand what it means to be a Christian by education as well as parish and community involvement.
Choir- Our Choir provides music for our 11:00 a.m. Sunday service. The Choir practices each Thursday at 7:00 p.m. New members are always welcome; a trained voice is not necessary . If you like to sing, join your voice with ours.

Cursillo- Cursillo is an ecumenical spiritual program designed to help adults renew their faith. The event is a three day weekend of renewal with many from Epiphany who have made Cursillo working occasional weekends. Talk to FATHER STEVE about Cursillo.

Daughters of the King - A spiritual order for women undertaking a Rule of Life that includes worship and service. The Holy Light Chapter of the DOK meets in the Parish Hall. Contact ELLEN SIMONIN for information.
Education for Ministry - A four year course in Bible Study, Christian History, Philosophy and Ethics that you take one year at a time. The group meets once a week, Tuesday evening during the academic year. New members are incorporated in September. This is a four year program with scholarships available.
Year 1: Old Testament
Year 2: New Testament
Year 3: Church history,
Year 4: Theology
Mentors: DEACON COOKIE and CINDY GLASS.
Eucharist Ministers and Visitors - Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharist visitors are licensed by the Bishop and serve under the direction of the Rector and Deacon. EM's assist with administering Holy Communion worship services. EV's take Holy Communion to the sick and shut-ins in hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences following the services on Sunday mornings. Contact DEACON COOKIE.
Gardeners Guild - This is the group that takes care of the grounds with particular emphasis on the plants and lawn. Mowing, trimming and general clean-up is always needed. Contact ROLLIE SIMONS.
Fellowship & Hospitality Committee - Everyone is invited to share in the coffee hour in the Parish Hall, at 10:00 am, to greet old friends and make new ones. Members of the Parish take turns preparing the refreshments. We all enjoy the fellowship following Sunday services when we can visit with our friends and welcome newcomers to our parish. We also enjoy the refreshments provided in the Parish Hall. To ensure that we have an ample sampling for everyone, we ask you to contribute your favorite refreshment when you can. Some ideas for drinks (other than the coffee provided by the church), are juices or iced tea. While we often have cakes, you may consider muffins, bagels, crackers and cheese, fruit or other brunch type foods.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers & Visitors- Lay Eucharistic Ministers are members who assist the ordained clergy in worship services, including serving the Chalice at Communion, after training and certification by the clergy and licensing by the bishop.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors are a ministry of trained persons who visit parishioners who are hospitalized or house-bound .

Lectors- Lectors assist in the worship services by reading the Lessons and the Psalm appointed for the service. They are trained by the clergy.

The Light - The Light is the monthly newsletter of Epiphany. Articles are always welcome. Deadline for submission is the 15th of each month. Contact NANCY WYANT.
Men's Club - The men of Epiphany meet the first Saturday of each month for breakfast, fellowship and Morning Prayer. For information, contact FATHER STEVE.
Music Ministry at 9:15 - Guitars, drums, flute oboe -- all are welcome to join the contemporary music ministry at the 9:15 a.m. service. Contact CARLYN CRYSTAL.
Parish Nurse - Our Parish Nurse Ministry group provides education as well as blood pressure checks in the church. Contact CAROL HOWARD.
Sunday School - There are classes for children in Pre-school through High School in the Parish Hall after the 9:15 a.m. service.

Becky Curtis High School (Journey To Adulthood)
Ushers and Greeters- Ushers are usually the first people to greet worshippers at Epiphany and can provide a very meaningful ministry of hospitality. Ushers are always needed for Sunday Services and other events.

Warden -- Senior - A vestry member appointed by the Rector to be Senior Warden is the Vice President of the Parish Board of Directors. The Senior Warden is the chief lay officer of the Parish and is the administrative authority of the parish in the absence of the Rector. Becky Curtis.
Warden -- Junior - A Junior Warden, a member of the Vestry, elected by the Vestry this office, is in charge of building and ground maintenance and is second Vice President of the Parish Corporation. See something that needs to be done???? Call Viki Tyrell.

Welcoming Committee - Our goal is to identify and welcome all visitors to Epiphany. Join our committee to help visitors experience the warm fellowship that characterizes Epiphany. Contact MELISSA DUNNING.
Windsor House Visitors - A short evening prayer service is held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor House on South Orchard Street. You are always welcome to come to pray and sing. Contact BOBBI BOWEN.
Youth Group - Teenagers are invited to join the Journey to Adulthood Youth Group. See FATHER STEVE for meeting dates.
